1. Will Avalon Works Accelerator speed up everything I do on the web?
Avalon Works Accelerator accelerates certain text and graphics on web pages. With Avalon Works Accelerator you will notice a significantly faster experience when you visit web sites, send and receive your e-mail, and perform many other Web-based activities. Avalon Works Accelerator will not currently accelerate file downloads such as music files, or streaming video or audio media.
2. How fast is Avalon Works Accelerator?
The exact amount of acceleration can vary but with Avalon Works Accelerator you will notice a significantly faster experience when you visit web sites, send and receive email, and perform many other web-based activities.
3. What other features does Avalon Works Accelerator include?
Avalon Works Accelerator offers the following value-added service in addition to speeding up your web and email usage:
- Pop-Up Blocker - block annoying pop-up advertisements while surfing!
- Banner-Ad Blocking - Stop the ads, and surf faster!
- Integrated Diagnostic Support Tool
4. How does Avalon Works Accelerator work?
SlipStream accelerates your Internet access through proprietary text and image compression, content caching and other network optimizations.
5. Will I benefit from using Avalon Works Accelerator?
If you have a slow Internet connection (such as a dial-up or wireless connection) with bandwidth of less than 300Kbps, you will experience a significant degree of acceleration using SlipStream.
6. What types of content does Avalon Works Accelerator speed up?
Avalon Works Accelerator significantly speeds up web page access. To achieve this speed up, proprietary lossless compression is applied to text, html, xml, javascript and style sheets. Proprietary image compression is applied to gif images, jpeg images and Flash content.
SlipStream also accelerates email traffic (POP3 and SMTP) using lossless compression.
SlipStream does NOT speed up file downloads (over FTP or file sharing programs), streaming audio/video and HTTPS (secure web sites).
7. Does Avalon Works Accelerator work with online game sites?
Some people may have trouble with online games like the ones found at pogo.com as these games use java and may be affected by the Accelerator. If this is the case, please disable Accelerator when you visit these sites.
8. Can I use Avalon Works Accelerator with Netscape Navigator?
Start Netscape Navigator and browse as you normally would. Avalon Works Accelerator is launched automatically every time Windows starts. It operates in the background to accelerate your web connection. No user intervention is required.
9. Can I use Avalon Works Accelerator with other browsers such as Opera or Mozilla?
Yes. Avalon Works Accelerator works with any web browser that allows you to specify an HTTP proxy. You must set the HTTP proxy host to be "localhost" and the port number to be "5500" (without quotes). Consult your browser's documentation for additional information.

13. Does Avalon Works Accelerator speedup email?
Yes. Avalon Works Accelerator can reduce the amount of time it takes to send and receive email. Avalon Works Accelerator accelerates email transparently without any user intervention, so you can use your mail program exactly as you normally would. It is compatible with any POP3/SMTP client, including Outlook Express, Eudora and Netscape Mail. Email acceleration is disabled by default.
14. Does Avalon Works Accelerator speedup my secure (HTTPS) transactions such as my web-banking?
Avalon Works Accelerator does not accelerate secure transactions. Secure web sites will continue to work by bypassing the acceleration component.
15. I get a display message saying "Required dll ws_32.dll was not found slipstream could not be started"
Please check to see if your operating system is listed as compatible with Avalon Works Accelerator. Windows 98a is not an Avalon Works Accelerator supported OS.

17. What system requirements are necessary to use Avalon Works Accelerator?
The recommended system requirements are a Pentium PC 200MHz with 64MB of RAM and at least 5 MB of hard-disk space.
On a Macintosh computer a PowerPC G3 processor with OS X 10.2 (or later) with 333Mhz and 128MB RAM and 6MB of hard drive space is the minimum requirement.
